Abstract

The history of the landscape is the history of biological and cultural diversity. The spatial and temporal patterns of biodiversity result from the relationship between historical, human, and ecological processes, as demonstrated by the itinerant agriculture carried out by Mesoamerican cultures, which facilitated the mobility of plant species carried by species of bats and birds that consume fruits and seeds, to speed up the regeneration of abandoned plots, configuring a dispersal chain, whose remaining elements still favor the flow of dispersers in the Mesoamerican landscape, despite environmental changes and fluctuations of other species of terrestrial herbivores native and introduced.
